Biography
Lynn Wong Yuqing is a Singaporean cultural heritage preservationist dedicated to documenting and preserving Singapore's disappearing cultural traditions. She dropped out of her marketing PhD program at INSEAD to pursue her passion for revitalizing Chinese heritage and clan associations in Singapore. Lynn is actively involved with Kong Chow Wui Koon, a clan association where she teaches kung fu and Cantonese to children and teenagers.
As an accomplished martial artist, Lynn won the 2014 Wong Fei-Hung Cup, an international martial arts competition held annually in China, defeating opponents from around the world. She founded Bridging Generations, an organization focused on intergenerational cultural preservation and education. Lynn is described as being 'on a race against time to document Singapore's disappearing foods, festivals and heritage' and works to empower youth to rediscover their origin stories.
Lynn has co-authored works on Singapore's cultural heritage, including 'Reviving Qixi: Singapore's Forgotten Seven Sisters Festival' (2022), which was shortlisted for the NUS Singapore History Prize. She has also been involved in developing the 'Inheritage' program, which uses heritage for active aging, including training Singapore's first lion dance troupe for seniors. Lynn is recognized as a masterful storyteller who makes Chinese history and cultural traditions accessible to modern audiences.
