Biography
Professor Carolyn Su Ping Lam is a Senior Consultant Cardiologist at the National Heart Centre Singapore and a tenured Full Professor at Duke-National University of Singapore. She pioneered the first Women's Heart Clinic in Singapore and is globally recognized for her expertise in heart failure, particularly heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). She graduated from the National University of Singapore Faculty of Medicine, completed advanced cardiology training in Singapore, and pursued research fellowships at Mayo Clinic, Framingham Heart Study, and obtained her PhD from University Medical Centre Groningen, Netherlands.
In 2014, Dr. Lam was honored as a JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World Singapore Honoree for Medical Innovation, recognizing her groundbreaking work in women's cardiovascular disease and heart failure research. She co-founded Us2.ai, an award-winning MedTech startup that uses artificial intelligence to automate echocardiography for heart disease diagnosis. The company has secured significant funding including a $15 million Series A round and achieved FDA clearance for its AI-powered cardiac imaging software.
Professor Lam has authored over 700 peer-reviewed publications and serves as Associate Editor for Circulation and the European Journal of Heart Failure. She hosts the weekly global podcast 'Circulation On The Run' and appears regularly as the Resident Doctor on MediaCorp Singapore's health program 'Body and Soul'. Her research has led to the first FDA-approved treatment for HFpEF through her work in landmark clinical trials including PARAGON-HF and EMPEROR-Preserved, representing a major breakthrough in treating a condition that predominantly affects elderly women.
