Biography

Bernise Ang is Principal and Chief Alchemist at Zeroth Labs, a systems innovation lab addressing complex problems whose frameworks have been adopted by the Singapore government and the United Nations Development Program. She leads methodology development for urbanisation projects aimed at government clients in developing countries and Singapore, integrating diverse methods such as anthropology, data science, behavioral science, and systems thinking. Her cross-disciplinary approach supports multilateral, civil society and government institutions on applying systems approaches and strategic foresight to policy challenges.

Bernise co-founded and directed Syinc, a youth development nonprofit dedicated to enhancing organizational capacities for impactful innovation, from which alumni have gone on to become Forbes 30Under30 and Ashoka Fellow awardees. She also led UNDP Asia Pacific's first systems thinking initiative, advising the Bhutanese government on youth unemployment. Her work in social entrepreneurship and youth development has been recognized with the Singapore Woman Award in 2011. While search results indicate she was a TOYP Singapore Honoree in 2016 for Humanitarian and/or Voluntary Leadership, this specific award could not be directly verified through the available sources.

She holds a BSc in Psychology from UNSW and was selected as an Obama Foundation Scholar at Columbia University in 2020-2021. She was also selected as a Young Global Leader at the World Economic Forum in 2017. Bernise serves as External Lecturer on complexity science and systems thinking at the National University of Singapore and as Adjunct Faculty at Singapore Management University, teaching innovation methods to graduate students.
