Biography
Dr. Mustafa Izzuddin is Associate Professor and Executive Director of the Nehginpao Kipgen Center for Southeast Asian Studies at O.P. Jindal Global University, which is the first think-tank in India dedicated to the study of Southeast Asia. He holds a PhD in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science and previously served as a Fulbright Scholar at Georgetown University. In 2019, he was honored as a TOYP Singapore recipient by JCI Singapore in the category of Humanitarian and/or Voluntary Leadership.
Dr. Mustafa serves concurrently as Founder and CEO of The SidMus Group, which focuses on socially innovative ventures in medical tourism, educational development, water filtration, and nutritional security in Southeast Asia and South Asia. He also works as a Lead Senior International Affairs Analyst with Solaris Strategies Singapore consultancy and is recognized as an interfaith champion in Southeast Asia. He was appointed as the first Singaporean to serve as an external expert in civilizational dialogue for ICESCO under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
On the community service front, Dr. Mustafa has served for more than 25 years as a volunteer-leader with the Malay/Muslim community and wider society, serving on various national committees and management boards including Yayasan Mendaki, Muslim Kidney Action Association, and the National Council of Social Service. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he raised close to half a million dollars to help the underprivileged in Singapore society. He established a charitable foundation bearing his name and has created multiple university student prizes across institutions in Southeast Asia and South Asia.
Achievements
- Received the Junior Chamber International (JCI)'s Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World 2019 award.
- Selected as Singapore's Youth Representative to the United Nations General Assembly in New York in 2003.
- Raised close to half a million dollars during the Covid-19 pandemic to help the underprivileged in Singapore society.
- Selected as one of the world's 500 most influential Muslims for 2024, 2025 and 2026.
- Founded the first think-tank in India dedicated to the study of Southeast Asia at O.P. Jindal Global University.
