Biography
Dr Dennis Chia Wen Jie is a Singapore emergency physician at Sengkang General Hospital, where he serves as Program Director of the Hospital Clinician Scheme and focuses on workforce planning, clinician development, and systems innovation in public healthcare.
He has a particular passion for reducing healthcare barriers for underserved groups, especially migrant and foreign domestic workers, and teaches as a Clinical Assistant Professor with local medical schools.
Achievements
- Honoree, Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) of Singapore 2021 – Humanitarian and/or Voluntary Leadership (JCI Singapore).
- Honourable Mention, Healthcare Humanity Award (Open Category), The Courage Fund, 2020.
- Key member of Sengkang General Hospital’s mobile medical teams serving migrant workers in dormitories during the early COVID-19 outbreak, including S11 Dormitory; also a regular volunteer with HealthServe.
- Recipient of The Commendation Medal (COVID-19) from the Prime Minister’s Office in 2022 for contributions during the pandemic.
- Multiple Singapore Health Quality and Service Awards (SuperHero and Silver Awards, individual and team categories) and SKH “You Sparkle!” Award for exemplary patient care and service.
- Health Manpower Development Plan Fellowship (MOH, 2023) and leadership roles including Chief Resident (Emergency Medicine, NUHS) and Program Director for SingHealth’s Hospital Clinician curriculum workgroup.
