Biography

Dr. Seh Zhi Wei is a Senior Scientist at the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE) under A*STAR Singapore, where he leads research teams focused on advanced materials for energy storage and conversion. His research interests include batteries and electrochemical energy storage devices, electrocatalysis for oxygen reduction and evolution reactions, hydrogen evolution and oxidation reactions, and fuel cells.

He was recognized as a Merit Award recipient for the Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) Singapore programme run by JCI Singapore in 2019 for Scientific and/or Technological Development. Dr. Seh has been acknowledged as one of the world's most influential scientific minds, being named a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate in 2021 and 2024, and was honored as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).

Dr. Seh is widely recognized for designing the first yolk-shell nanostructure in lithium-sulfur batteries, which is currently a licensed technology. He has collaborated with prestigious international institutions including Harvard University, Drexel University, and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis on groundbreaking research in MXenes and next-generation battery technologies.
