Biography
Mohamed Abbas Sheyed Ebramsa (b. 1991) is a Singaporean FinTech entrepreneur best known as co‑founder of Onelyst and Rely, which focus on improving access to fair and transparent credit for underserved communities.
Raised in a low-income hawker family in a one-room rental flat, he channelled his early exposure to financial exclusion into building technology-driven solutions for blue-collar workers and young consumers.
After studying at Outram Secondary School and completing a double diploma at Singapore Polytechnic—where he served as President of the Students in Free Enterprise Club and led 19 social projects—he pursued a Bachelor of Business (Banking & Finance) at Nanyang Technological University, taking a two-year leave to build Onelyst before graduating in 2018.
Onelyst allows lower-income individuals to quickly compare licensed moneylenders’ rates online, while Rely, launched in 2016 as Singapore’s first home-grown Buy Now, Pay Later platform, leverages data-driven credit assessment to provide instalment payments across Southeast Asia; Abbas served as Rely’s Co‑Founder and Chief Revenue Officer from 2018 to 2022.
Alongside his ventures, he remains active in youth and community work, including volunteering and advising with Youth Corps Singapore and participating as a youth leader panellist for the SG Youth Action Plan
Achievements
Abbas has received significant local, regional, and international recognition for his entrepreneurial and community leadership.
He was listed in Forbes’ inaugural “30 Under 30 Asia” list in the Finance and Venture Capital category in 2016, highlighting him as one of the region’s leading young FinTech entrepreneurs.
He is the only Singaporean recipient of the 11th ASEAN Youth Award, reflecting his impact beyond Singapore’s borders.
Domestically, he received the National Youth Achievement Award (NYAA) Gold, presented by then-President Dr Tony Tan, and has been profiled as a notable NYAA Gold Award alumni.
In 2021, Nanyang Technological University honoured him with the Nanyang Outstanding Young Alumni Award, recognising both his success with Onelyst and Rely— including securing around US$100 million in financing for Rely’s regional expansion— and his sustained contributions to youth development and social enterprise.
