Biography
Jennifer Heng is a Singaporean moral leader and social entrepreneur who has dedicated her life to helping women and families facing pregnancy challenges. Born and raised in Singapore, she experienced difficult teenage years marked by challenging family circumstances and personal struggles, including two abortions. After her father's departure, her mother raised three daughters alone, during which time Jennifer rebelled and went through several unhealthy relationships.
Through faith and personal transformation, Jennifer turned her painful experiences into a mission to help others. She pursued her education in Melbourne, studying advertising with support from her godfather, and worked as a radio DJ, copywriter, and marketing professional. In 2012, she published her memoir Walking Out Of Secret Shame, which has sold over 7,000 copies and been translated into Mandarin and Mongolian. The book details her journey from shame and guilt to healing and purpose.
Jennifer is the founder and director of Safe Place Singapore, formerly known as Dayspring New Life Centre, which is Singapore's only dedicated shelter for women in distress over unsupported pregnancies. The organization provides pregnancy counseling, crisis support, and referrals for foster care and adoption services. In 2015, she was recognized as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons of Singapore by JCI Singapore in the category of Moral and Environmental Leadership. She was also named Most Inspiring Woman in the Great Women of Our Time Awards the same year. She is married to John and is a mother, regularly speaks at various organizations including Singapore Changi Women's Prison, and serves as an itinerant speaker sharing her story across Singapore and overseas.
