Biography
Kalaivanan s/o Balakrishnan is the Co‑Chief Executive Officer of ACRES (Animal Concerns Research & Education Society), a leading wildlife rescue and advocacy charity in Singapore. Based in Singapore, he has spent more than a decade championing wildlife protection, humane education, and stronger laws against animal cruelty and illegal wildlife trade.
Achievements
- Received the TOYP Singapore Merit Award in 2021 for Moral and/or Environmental Leadership.
- Co‑CEO of ACRES, leading strategy, operations and advocacy for wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and public education in Singapore.
- Key contributor to regional pangolin conservation efforts, including co‑authoring the Sunda Pangolin National Conservation Strategy and Action Plan.
- Long‑time wildlife rescuer and investigator with ACRES, involved in frontline responses to injured or trafficked wild animals and public education on coexistence with urban wildlife.
- Recognised partner and stakeholder in national discussions on wildlife policy, animal welfare standards and enforcement against illegal wildlife trade.
